Value Instructional Video for lesson Light source Depth Forms identifying sphere. Rotation Complete snowman with nose and a hill for snow and one snowman completely bare. White sphere Pre-assembled snowman using a lamp as a light source to show value Talk about shape vs. form. Have a ball and ask "Is this a shape or a form?" Have students discuss why. Is shape an element or a principle of art? The words elements and principles can be printed out. List them for each? Can you create a sphere? Make three spheres to create a small snowman. This lamp is the light source. Light source is where the light is coming from, like the moon or sun. What do you notice about the "picture" if you move the light source? Answer it changes where the shadows are. Just like taking a picture our drawings are 2 dimensional we can use the shadows and highlights to make it look like a form. Take a picture of their snowman use education to identify the 5 elements of shading. We are going to me drawing a snowman. What could you as an artist research to how to make a snowman? Talk about shape and form, elements of art. Then break up the class with getting on Edmodo > Glogster > Value video. If they do a good job during instruction have them sit where ever they want as long as they can be responsible. |
