Day 1
Objectives
|
Lesson one - This unit of study will begin with a lecture and discussion. I will demonstrate how to measure and draw the human form using Leonardo Da Vinci's mathematical rules for proportions of the human body. We will begin with simple poses and then evolve into more complex gestures. Students will be challenged to work with both graphite pencils and then charcoal. I will demonstrate how to measure with the dominant eye and students will be studying body proportion using a wooden mannequin in a variety of positions. Students also used charcoal as a medium alongside dry napkins to create and complete sketches. We will place manikins in different poses and change every two minutes. Students are encouraged to draw fast and find the main gesture of figure.
Lesson two -students will be drawing from real life, accomplished by the students choosing to draw each other. Student volunteers will stand on table and pose for 45 seconds at a time. Lesson three- students will be using charcoal pencils and an overhead projector to draw dancing figures onto regular copy paper. Lesson four- students will be learning and practicing a detailed study of figure using heavyweight paper alongside compressed charcoal to complete drawings. This lesson will also be the students final project. |
